Ron Perlman brought the comic book hero Hellboy to life in two big screen films. For those films, Perlman had to endure countless hours in the make-up chair in order to undergo his transformation from man to Hellboy. Recently, Perlman happily got back into the make-up chair to become Hellboy again … but not for another film. He did so to make a wish come true for a young boy with leukemia. Perlman and the Make-A-Wish Foundation worked together with the Spectral Motion special effects company to make one little boy very, very happy.

He may be known for playing Hellboy, but Ron Perlman has just earned his wings. The 62-year-old actor made one little boy's wish come true when he showed up in his full Hellboy makeup and costume for a day of hanging out with his big screen hero. Six-year-old Zachary had expressed to Make-A-Wish his desire "to meet and become Hellboy." The boy is undergoing treatment for leukemia, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Enter Spectral Motion, the creature effects house that brought to life the many fantastical characters in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy 2 (2008). They in turn approached Perlman, who "loved the idea and donned the makeup once more," Spectral Motion said on its Facebook page. Perlman then underwent the four-hour makeup application procedure it takes to become Hellboy and shocked a delighted Zachary — who later got the opportunity to become a pint-sized Hellboy himself. More photos of the memorable encounter are posted on Facebook.

OMG, I love this so much. The Make-A-Wish Foundation does such amazing work, I can't even tell you how much I love everything they do. I am not at all surprised that Ron Perlman agreed to make Zachary's wish come true. I cannot begin to fathom the difficulties that Zachary must endure because of his illness but for one day, I bet the last thing on his mind was leukemia. This has to be the coolest thing I've seen all week. Well don Ron, Spectral Motion and Make-A-Wish. You are all heroes in my book.
